Chevrolet’s electric vehicle turns the phrase ‘range anxiety’ on its head
While many drivers love the idea of never refilling a fuel tank again, ‘range anxiety’ can hold some potential customers back from an electric vehicle. However, with the all-new Chevrolet Bolt EV, Chevrolet is all but rendering the term meaningless, thanks to its cutting-edge battery technology.
Built around a 60-kWh lithium-ion battery pack, the largest in its class, the Chevrolet Bolt EV offers a best-in-class driving range of over 500 km* on a single charge. To put that into context, a conventional petrol-powered car would deliver a similar driving range on a full tank of fuel, making the Chevrolet Bolt EV just as practical and useable in daily driving situations. Considering that a majority of people do not have to refuel their vehicle every single day, the Chevrolet Bolt EV presents a compelling case for its utility as a practical family car.
Over the years, the Chevrolet Bolt EV’s range capabilities have been put to the test in real-world conditions both in the US and now in markets across the globe, proving that it is the best-in-class affordable long-range EV.
Recently, the Chevrolet Bolt EV demonstrated its incredible 500+ km range* as part of the 2018 Global Electric Vehicle Road Trip in the Middle East. This was a nine-day event that covered over 1,750 km across the UAE and Oman where the Chevrolet Bolt EV performed excellently, proving it can tackle both daily driving as well as regional travel.
Mounted along the vehicle’s entire floor, the Chevrolet Bolt EV’s battery pack contributes to a low center of gravity, vehicle stability and interior spaciousness.
“The Chevrolet Bolt EV brings together superior electric range, space and fun-to-drive characteristics,” said Michael Lelli, vehicle chief engineer. “Our team aimed to deliver not only a great electric car, but a great car overall.”
Further reinforcing the Chevrolet Bolt EV’s credentials is the data recorded since the launch of the vehicle. Through January 2018 approximately 23,000 Chevrolet Bolt EV owners in North America have travelled a cumulative 209 million kilometers.
Tackling real-world conditions of city driving as well as long highway cruises, the Chevrolet Bolt EV is accomplishing the once conceptual idea of long-range, affordable battery electric mobility.
